No experience is needed at all. The majority of models on the HireHerNow roster started with zero professional experience. We provide guidance on posing, working with photographers, and preparing for shoots so you can feel confident from day one. Some applicants start without professional experience and improve over time as they learn what categories and presentation styles fit them best.

Requirements depend on the type of modeling. For fashion modeling, we generally look for heights of 5'4" and above, though commercial and lifestyle work is flexible on height. You must be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation to shoot locations in NJ or NY, and maintain a professional attitude. All ethnicities, body types, and experience levels are welcome. We value confidence, punctuality, and the ability to take direction over any single physical trait.

Applying is simple and completely free. Visit our homepage and fill out the online application form. You will need to provide your name, email, phone number, Instagram handle, city, and a brief description about yourself. You can also upload photos if you have them ready. The form is short and designed to be easy to complete from a phone or laptop. Once submitted, our team reviews your application and reaches out when your look and availability fit current or upcoming projects.

A clear headshot, a full-body shot, and one natural casual photo are the most helpful starting point. Natural lighting and minimal makeup work best. Professional photos are not required - high-quality smartphone photos are perfectly acceptable. If you do not have all of them ready yet, you can still start your application and add stronger photos later when asked.

You must be at least 18 years old to apply. There is no strict upper age limit, especially for lifestyle modeling and commercial work, where brands actively seek models across a wide age range. Fashion and beauty campaigns typically work with models aged 18 to 35, but we regularly book models outside that range for specific projects. Age is less important than your look, energy, and professionalism.

Most shoots take place across the wider NJ/NY area. You do not need to live in these exact cities, but you do need reliable transportation to reach shoot locations. Models who live within a reasonable commuting distance of the NJ/NY metro area tend to get the most bookings because of scheduling flexibility.

The application itself takes about two minutes to complete. After you submit it, our team reviews your information, any photos you shared, availability, and preferred work type. If your look matches current or upcoming client needs, you will hear from us by email with next steps.

After submission, our casting team reviews your photos, profile, and information. We evaluate how your look fits with our current roster needs and upcoming client projects. If there is a match, we will contact you to discuss opportunities, answer your questions, and potentially set up a brief video call or in-person meeting. We keep all applications on file, so even if we do not reach out immediately, we may contact you when a fitting project comes along.

We do our best to respond to every applicant, but due to high volume, we prioritize reaching out to models whose looks match our current client needs. If you do not hear back quickly, it does not automatically mean you are not a fit. Often it simply means there was no matching brief at that time. You are welcome to reapply after a few months, especially if you have new photos or have updated your look. We also encourage you to follow us on Instagram for updates on casting calls and new opportunities.

Not being selected right away is completely normal and does not reflect your potential as a model. Client needs change constantly, and the look they need today may be different from what they need next month. We keep every application on file and regularly revisit our database when new projects come in. In the meantime, focus on improving your photos, building your Instagram presence, and practicing posing. You can reapply any time with updated photos.

Whether you are drawn to fashion modeling for clothing brands, beauty modeling for skincare and cosmetics campaigns, or lifestyle modeling for everyday brand content, we take your preferences into account when matching you with projects. Many models work across multiple categories, which increases their booking opportunities. We recommend staying open to different types of work, especially when you are just starting out.

Start with what you have - clear smartphone photos with good lighting are enough for your initial application. Once you start booking shoots through HireHerNow, each paid job adds professional images to your portfolio. You can also book test shoots (TFP or "time for print") with local photographers to diversify your portfolio faster. Aim for a mix of headshots, full-body shots, and different styles. Update your portfolio regularly and keep it focused on your best 10 to 15 images rather than including everything.

Absolutely, and most of our models do exactly that. Modeling through HireHerNow is freelance work, meaning you choose which bookings to accept based on your availability. Shoots are scheduled on weekdays, weekends, and sometimes evenings, giving you flexibility to work around school, your day job, or family commitments. There is no minimum number of bookings required, so you can model as much or as little as your schedule allows.

The models who get the most bookings share a few traits: they are reliable, professional, easy to work with, and actively grow their portfolios. Keep your photos updated, maintain an active Instagram presence, be responsive to booking inquiries, and show up on time with a positive attitude. Being flexible with your schedule and open to different types of shoots also increases your opportunities significantly. As your portfolio and reputation grow, you naturally attract more and higher-paying work.

Yes, it is possible, though it takes time and dedication. Some of our models have transitioned from part-time to full-time by consistently delivering great work, building strong portfolios, expanding their networks, and developing relationships with repeat clients. Full-time modeling income requires a steady stream of bookings across multiple project types. We recommend building up your experience and client base gradually while maintaining another source of income until your modeling work is consistently generating the earnings you need.

Having a dedicated or at least well-curated Instagram account is highly recommended. Many clients review a model's social media before booking, and a clean, visually appealing feed with your best photos, behind-the-scenes content, and professional presentation can make a strong impression. You do not need a huge following - even a few hundred engaged followers and a polished aesthetic can set you apart. Post consistently, use relevant hashtags, and tag brands and photographers you work with to build visibility over time.
